An ATM is a highly sophisticated mechatronic device that utilizes magnetic code cards or smart cards to achieve self-service financial transactions, replacing the work of bank tellers. It can withdraw cash, check the deposit balance, transfer funds between accounts, and check the balance. It can also perform cash deposit (real-time account entry), check deposit (not available in China), passbook supplementary registration, and intermediary business.
ATM structure and principle:
ATM is divided into two parts, hardware and software, usually people only see the console. Internal structure: In the upper and lower layers, the upper layer has an ordinary computer host, a display outside the screen, a card reader, a printer, and a printing roll.
The ATM has two input devices, a card reader and a keyboard, and a data terminal with four output devices, a speaker, a display screen, a receipt printer and a cash outlet. The input device allows the user to send commands to the ATM machine. Through the card reader, the ATM machine obtains the information in the magnetic stripe on the back of the bank card, and transmits it to the main processor through the interface of RS232, RS485USB protocol and external communication. Based on this information, the host processor routes the transaction to the user’s bank. The user then tells the bank what kind of transaction and transaction amount need to be entered through the keyboard. During this process, the bank requires the user to enter a personal password (PIN) for authentication.
