Aging refers to the change in appearance or product performance of products or parts under the radiation or influence of different conditions such as light and temperature. So what does aging resistance of thermal pads mean?
Aging resistance of thermal pads, that is, weathering resistance, is a popular saying that guides thermal pads to withstand the effects of these different conditions.
There are many design ideas for the aging test of thermal pads. The method introduced this time is called the rapid temperature test method.
The test equipment of this method: rapid temperature change damp heat test chamber; test conditions: temperature 26 ℃, humidity 42% RH.
Aging resistance test index and process flow introduction of thermal pads
- Test the initial parameters of the thermal pads: thermal conductivity, hardness, tensile strength, withstand voltage, volume resistance, flame retardant grade, etc.;
- Rapid temperature repeated impact: keep the tested thermal pads at a low temperature of -40 °C for 30 minutes, and quickly increase the temperature to 120 °C and maintain it for 30 minutes, so as to continuously impact 500 cycles;
- Take out the thermal pads and place it at room temperature for 30 minutes. Test the parameters of the thermal pads after impact: thermal conductivity, hardness, tensile strength, withstand voltage, volume resistance, flame retardant grade, etc. Quantitative comparison and analysis;
- According to quantitative comparison and analysis, the service life of the thermal pad is deduced.
Through the above test steps, you can roughly judge the aging resistance of a thermal pad, and provide more reference for choosing a suitable thermal pad.
